Interactive Virtual Assistant (iVA)
Data protection and copyright are two crucial issues with regard to the exchange and (further) use of research data in business, economics and the social sciences. At the same time, dealing with applicable legal regulations is often not one of the core competences of data users.
At BERD, we are developing an interactive Virtual Assistant (iVA), a stand-alone online workshop that supports data users in finding access to the basic legal regulations.
Data Literacy Snacks
The BERD Data Literacy Snacks are an online micro-event series in which current topics in research data management are presented to researchers and infrastructure staff in a compact format of max. 60 minutes. The first Data Literacy series took place from May 12 to June 23, 2021.
We are currently planning a new Data Literacy Snacks series. To ensure that the snacks meet the current needs of researchers and infrastructure staff, we offer you the opportunity to submit suggestions and requests regarding interesting topics.
Data Literacy Essentials
The Data Literacy Essentials are 45-minute (online) seminars designed to familiarize students with the basics of working with data early in their studies. The series is explicitly aimed at students whose degree programs do not focus on these topics, to make any potential for data value creation visible that has not yet have been exploited.
Online Courses of the International Program in Survey and Data Science
The International Program in Survey and Data Science (IPSDS), an online master program developed as part of a BMBF project, has a comprehensive range of online courses. IPSDS is aimed in particular at professionals who already work with data in their everyday work. Thus, the transfer of the rapidly developing know-how in this field from science to practice can be guaranteed even for people with a limited time budget. BERD can build on the teaching concepts and content developed within IPSDS as well as further develop and provide selected teaching materials.
Online Course “Good Practices for Managing Data”
BERD is developing a concept for the online course ‘Good Practices for Managing Data’ in cooperation with the International Program in Survey and Data Science (IPSDS). Based on existing training concepts and literature from the field of research data management, the course content will be adapted to the needs of professionals in business, economics and the social sciences who work with data in their daily work.
These services were developed as part of the project BERD@BW funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg from 2019 to 2022.
