In this Data Literacy Snack we will delve into the basics of privacy and data protection laws while focusing on the ever so relevant General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
This European regulation has provided one of the world´s strongest set of data protection rules: enhancing the rights of the data subjects while imposing legal obligations not only onto companies but onto every person or organization dealing with (collecting, processing) personal data. What are the key data protection principles to observe in a research project and how to comply with them? We will discuss this and more in our session.
About the Instructor
Vasilka Stoilova, who holds a Master of Laws degree, works as a Legal Counsel for the BERD project within the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI). She assists researchers with questions related to data protection, copyright and licensing issues, and legal matters in the field of Research Data Management (FDM). Additionally, she contributes to developing the data protection concept and platform guidelines for BERD.
