Nini Petriashvili, comes from Georgia, Tbilisi and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Manheim. She is a junior researcher at MZES, The Mannheim Center for European Social Research, where she examines East-West migration,
as well as the economic consequences and attitudes towards migrants. Before coming to Mannheim, she completed a master’s degree in political science at the CEU, Central European University, in Budapest. In terms of content, she is interested in political communication and election studies, how politicians use social media to influence voters and what effects fake news has on discourse With the GESIS summer school course “Data Science Techniques for Survey Researchers” she was able to acquire skills to be able to carry out her research on the topics successfully. Being particularly interested in text analysis and tools for scraping and analyzing big data, the course offered her the opportunity to improve her understanding and develop her practical skills.
